“Compassionate Care. Stronger Communities. Healthier Lives.”

Chief Executive Officer

Wabash Valley Health Center (WVHC) is a Terre Haute, Indiana-based Federally Qualified Health Center dedicated to expanding access to affordable, high-quality health care for individuals and families, including those experiencing barriers to care. Formerly known as St. Ann Clinic, the organization has served the community since 1997 and became a federally qualified health center in 2013. WVHC is now delivering services that result in $6.1M in annual revenue. This integrated continuum of community health services includes primary medical care, pediatrics, dental care, behavioral health services, and outreach and enrollment assistance. A search is being conducted to identify and recruit candidates to fill the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This is an exciting and transformative leadership opportunity. WVHC’s next CEO will have the opportunity to build upon a strong legacy of compassionate care while advancing organizational growth, provider engagement, financial stewardship, and responsive service delivery for vulnerable and underserved residents of the Wabash Valley region. The CEO chosen to lead the Wabash Valley team will be a part of a client-focused health center that is rapidly growing and is poised to continue to be an innovative service provider across the State of Indiana and the Terre Haute Community itself. The new CEO must work collaboratively with a dedicated and committed Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Team, as it addresses a challenging landscape with regulatory and compliance demands, potential federal funding uncertainties, increasing competition, and workforce shortages.

This is a tremendous opportunity, given Wabash Valley’s excellent reputation for providing “state-of-the-art” comprehensive services to an ever-increasing number of local residents in need of primary care for adults and children, dental care, behavioral health, and outreach/prevention services. WVHC’s annual results based on outcome studies are exceptional, outperforming similar organizations in terms of most performance outcomes.

The Role:

The Chief Executive Officer has ultimate responsibility for ensuring that the WVHC mission, vision, and values are reflected in its delivery of services. Wabash Valley is looking to find a strong and innovative healthcare leader to build upon the wonderful foundation of “compassionate care'' that has been established over a 29-year period. This leader will have an opportunity to grow its existing workforce and the “next generation of leaders” in integrated healthcare, while making a significant difference in the lives of those served by the organization.

With a proven track record in community health leadership, organizational strategy, financial stewardship, operational excellence, and stakeholder engagement, the Chief Executive Officer serves as both the mission-centered leader and strategic architect of Wabash Valley Health Center. The position requires a strong understanding of health center operations, health care access for underserved populations, regulatory and funding environments, workforce recruitment and retention, and the ability to communicate a compelling vision to board members, staff, patients, funders, partners, and the broader Terre Haute community. WVHC enjoys an excellent relationship with community leaders, and it is looking for its next CEO to have had a similar history of maintaining strong relationships with local, state, and federal officials, as well as with the local business community.
