Certified Diabetes Educator:

STATUS: Full-time

DESCRIPTION:  WVHC is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Diabetes Educator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health and nutrition, with expertise in areas such as dietetics or nursing. This new role within the health center is an opportunity to collaborate with providers. Develop and implement a program that will promote a patient's understanding and management of their diabetes, optimize quality of life, and improve clinical outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

​

• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Dietetics, or Nutrition from an accredited program

• Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or ability to obtain certification within 2 years

• Certificate of completion for CPT (Certified Pump Trainer) strongly preferred

• Minimum of 2 years experience in diabetes education or related healthcare field preferred

• Ability to deal successfully with a wide variety of people

• CPR Certification is required

Requires critical thinking, organization, decisive judgement, analytical abilities, problem solving, effective communication and good customer service skills. Must be able to function collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
